Not a great day or a bad day, but a good day. Sometimes I have trouble accepting an average good day. If someone asks me how the day went, I can come up with something that didn&#8217;t go well. It could be I&#8217;m tired or I didn&#8217;t get done what I wanted to, or a host of other things.  It&#8217;s focusing on the negative rather than the positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine is I said, today was a good day. I got some stuff done, interacted with some co-workers, kids were mostly behaved, it was good.  It&#8217;s looking at the glass as half full instead of half empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we realize that we will have great days and terrible days, it makes accepting the good ones a bit easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Scripture<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>So I concluded\u00a0there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can.\u00a0And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/ecc.3.12-13\" class=\"verseLink\">Ecclesiastes 3:12-13<\/a> (NLT)<\/li><li>Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good.\u00a0It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/ecc.5.18\" class=\"verseLink\">Ecclesiastes 5:18<\/a> (NLT)<\/li><li>For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/eph.2.8\" class=\"verseLink\">Ephesians 2:8<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>Reflection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Life isn&#8217;t going to be perfect everyday. Life isn&#8217;t going to be terrible everyday. Most days are a mix of the good and the bad. Our two Ecclesiastes verses basically tell is to have fun in life and enjoy it. We will work hard but should enjoy every gift we have from God. The good and the bad, because that is our lot in life. It doesn&#8217;t mean we shouldn&#8217;t follows God&#8217;s plan for us or enjoy the fun and happiness he has in store for us. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I liken this to the movie Inside Out. If you haven&#8217;t seen it, it&#8217;s a Pixar film that shows the emotions of a tween girl. It&#8217;s pretty funny. Spoilers here, but Joy who represents happiness things sadness is bad. She tries to push sadness into the corner and doesn&#8217;t think she can be helpful. The movie shows memories in solid colors of emotions. Sadness, happiness, etc. Most are happy when the girl is young. As the movie ends, the memories are shown as multicolored. There is happiness with sadness and fear. There is anger with sadness and the list goes on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God has given us a full range of emotions and situations. If we don&#8217;t accept the good days along with the great or terrible days, we are missing out on a huge part of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So God, thanks for an ok day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Charge<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When someone asks you how your day was, do you say good or just meh? Do you follow it up with the bad things that happened? Next time, try to say this was an ok day and I&#8217;m thankful for it. It&#8217;s hard to do, but overall it will help you focus more on the good and less on the bad things in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Prayer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, thank you for life. Thank you for allowing us to explore the range of human emotions. We know not every day is awesome, nor is everyday bad. Help us to accept the ok and good days and be thankful for your love and your gifts.
