When I was a young boy, my family went to synagogue regularly. I adored our Rabbi, Rabbi Kramer. He was a wonderful man who interacted well with all ages, especially the children. He helped my mum convert to Judaism. As I grew older, the aspect about him I admired the most, what the he was a professor of World Religions at UCLA. Here was a man deep in his faith, that could step outside and teach others about all religions. That is something I deeply respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our #faithbite yesterday, I used an image that had what I thought a scripture from the Quran. I found out later from a good friend that it wasn’t a verse but a saying from the Prophet Mohammad, Peace Be Upon Him. He then explained that for something to be attributed to the Prophet,
it is classed by scholars based on how likely it is that the Prophet said this. Then they have a system of certification which involves checking and researching the lives of people who report the saying. In fact, only the reports of the people who lived with the Prophet are taken and then the chain continues down to various people. If a saying is considered to be very authentic, it is regarded more. What struck me as even more interesting, is that the Quran is believed to be the direct word of God. No translation, no word change, no nothing is possible as that changes the message God gave. In fact, many Muslims commit the entire book to memory in Arabic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Christian blog, why am I talking about Islam? Because we need to be open to learning about our faith, our history, and how the Word of the Lord came to us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
