Today’s lesson is on being fully committed or fully engaged. I love people. I love my family. I love helping others. I am also honest about myself knowing that very rarely am I fully engaged. I may share a part of myself with someone, I may half-heartedly listen to someone. I may indirectly engage with people. I at times give people what they need, or what I feel they need, without fully opening up my heart and soul. I had a conversation back in college with a good friend. He said I was so open with people, sharing intimate details with them about my life, hiding nothing. I told him I had the ability to share facts, figures, and information without committing emotionally to the person. I tell anyone anything they want to know, and it doesn’t feel emotional. Then there are times when I do give my heart and full emotions. It hurts, usually in a good way, when I share like that. I can feel the flow of emotion and energy both ways.<\/p>\n

“How good and pleasant it is<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>when God\u2019s people live together\u00a0in unity!” – Psalm 133:1<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

What do either of these verses have to do with being fully committed or fully engaged. When we don’t fully open up. When we don’t meet our brothers and sisters where they are, we are isolating part of us. That part contains gifts and abilities from God that we can use to help others. We are bearing false witness in humanity and to God. God didn’t create us as split people. He didn’t make a Work Sol and a Home Sol. Or a Community Sol and a Business Sol. He made Sol. We need to live in unity and share fully. With it, comes pain and suffering. But also, love, joy, respect, communion, and friendship.<\/p>\n

Are you willing to take the extra moments to share fully? Are you willing to lower some of your walls to not isolate yourself? Are you willing to live in true unity with others?<\/p>\n
