259 – I Believe (In What?)<\/h5>\n

There are days when God just seems to be telling you something and you need to listen. Today’s sermon matched up perfectly with an experience I had before service.<\/p>\n

I was in the basement at church walking up to service and someone asked how everything was going. She could see my knee brace as I was wearing shortz and knows what I’ve been trying to do with work, school, faith, and life. I said it’s ok. Some good days, some not so good. She asked me how I do it all. Without missing a beat, I said “Prayer”.she smiled and we talked about time management. Believe it or not, my faith and prayer is helping balancing everything.<\/p>\n

The message today at Church was those teachable moment. We tell people that we believe in them or to have faith. But we don’t say what to believe in or what to have faith in.<\/p>\n

When we fail, we say, Why Couldn’t we do it? It’s because we didn’t put our faith in the right place. The main point no of the sermon was a “weak faith in Jesus is stronger than the greatest faith in ourselves”. When we believe and out our faith in soemthing imperfect like ourselves, we can’t do it.<\/p>\n

Scripture<\/h5>\n

16\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhat are you arguing with them about?\u201d<\/span>he asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

17\u00a0<\/sup>A man in the crowd answered, \u201cTeacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.<\/span>18\u00a0<\/sup>Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

19\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cYou unbelieving generation,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0Jesus replied,\u00a0\u201chow long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.\u201d\u00a0 – Mark 9:16-19<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Immediately the boy\u2019s father exclaimed, \u201cI do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!\u201d – Mark 9:24<\/a><\/p>\n

Reflection<\/h5>\n

In the story above Jesus comes to w town and hears arguing. Basically, a boy was possessed and the Disciples were asked to heal the boy. They we’re unable to and then Jeaus was brought in. He healed the boy .When he talked to the Disciples, they asked why he could cast out the demon but the Disciples couldn’t. Jesus replied that these demons could only be cast out by prayer. The disciples believed in theirselves and their ability to heal and cast out but not where the source of their power was from, Jesus<\/p>\n

The power of prayer is amazing. In my life when I look back at how things have gone, I can see exactly when I started praying. I believe in God. At the same time, I am not perfect in my belief.<\/p>\n

Like the father in the story above, I believe but ask for help in my unbelief. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phillipians 4:13).<\/p>\n

In a nutshell, while there are many things we can do, our belief in something oerfect, something bigger than ourselves allow us to do all things.<\/p>\n

Since I’m writing my dissertation, I liken this to citing your references. I didn’t create this knowledge but use it. God doesn’t ask for credit but we should give it to him. Because unlike the knowledge I found, his power is in me daily.<\/p>\n

So when you need help, ask him. When you have faith, have faith in a perfect savior. Perfect savior, perfect love, perfect results.<\/p>\n

Charge<\/h5>\n

Who do you put faith in? Do you look to yourself for strength or God? How do you put your faith in him. Take daily time to pray. Ask and ye shall receive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
