Oct 23 – Different Strengths, Different Challenges

2:296 - Different Strength, Different Challenges #faithbites #faithjourney different Tonight was parent/teacher conferences. It amazed me that even though my kids looked almost identical at the same age, they are so very different in their behaviors and interactions. While the teachers showcased their strengths and differences, they both have compassion and caring for all of God's children. In our faith, not one of us will worship, pray, or act the same way. That doesn't mean we are doing it "right" or "wrong". If we follow God's Word, then we are doing it right. He speaks to us in different ways and creates us differently as we serve different purposes. But at the end of the day, if we are serving Him, we are doing it right. Scripture But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one…

Oct 20 – Life Can Be Simple

2:293 - Life Can Be Simple #faithbites #faithjourney simple Today, we started a new girl scout troop for kindergartners. I asked them what they like to do. Most answered "I like to play" and "I like to learn". They weren't specific about what they like to play or what they like to learn. In essence, they were open to what may come. As adults, we try to be so specific on everything and plan to the last degree, then when we dont as achieve perfection, we are disappointed. Image if we were like kindergartners and just kept things simple. Have fun, play, learn, be nice. We wouldn't be as disappointed and would have more energy to serve. Scripture But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the…

Oct 18 – It WILL Get Better

2:291 - It WILL Get Better #faithbites #faithjourney Better It's been a rough week with health, work, and stress. Even as hard as it is, I know it's starting to get better. I had three different friends check in on me yesterday, an impromptu bagel and coffee with a friend, and a little bit of relief with the back. I also had a spark on my dissertation on how to attack it better. I could look at it as a fluke, but I chose to see that Jesus is at work in my life through the Holy Spirit. Sure, I'm not great and I dont have all the answers, but life's a journey not a destination. Scripture And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a…

Oct 15 – Thank You

2:288 - Thank You #faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge Thank In Christianity, some topics come up over and over again. Faith, God, salvation, praise, being, giving, serving, giving, going, giving thanks, forgiveness, and being a child of God. Why do these come up in faith and in #faithbites? It's the core of our faith. Today, again, I want to talk about the power of saying "Thank You". Today, again, after doing work for people, I wasn't given a simple thank you, only criticism. While feedback is needed, telling someone you appreciate them and thank them for going above and beyond is part of being a Good Human. It takes all of two seconds to say, thanks so much, I appreciate it. Then talk about changes you may want to see. We give thanks to our heavenly father for blessing us, let's…

Oct 10 – Praise: What’s In A Word

2:283 - Praise: What's In A Word? #faithbites #faithjourney Praise What does "Praise" mean? According to vocabulary.com, the verb form means, express warm approval or admiration of. The noun form means, the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something. We all like to get at-a-persons (gender neutral form of at-a-boy). A simple nice job, great work, or thanks for doing this is a simple praise. It is almost effortless and really tells people you appreciate them. I don't want a ticker-tape parade or anything, but when you do good work, you should be praised. Likewise, we should praise and give praise to Jesus. Why? Because we adore him and have admiration for his work. We are blessed and, thankful for everything he does. Scripture Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! - Psalm 100:2Through him…

Oct 6 – Superhero Jesus

2:279 - Superhero Jesus #faithbites #faithjourney Superhero This faithbite inspired by my eldest. She, like me, loves Superheros. This was a fitting topic with Joker coming out, Batwoman starting tonight, and all the superhero shows starting this week. Why do we like them? We are looking for a savior. Someone to save us, someone who is more powerful than any villain. The thing is, we already have that hero. Jesus came to defeat evil. He fought Satan, defeated death, and saved our eternal souls. No superhero could ever top that. We just need to remember who our hero is. Scripture He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. - 1 John 2:2For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all…

September 28 – God’s Not Done With Me

2:271 - God's Not Done With Me #faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge #D2MC Done In past #faithbites, we've talked about how some people look like they have this stuff together. They have a great Facebook profile, go to church, dress nice, etc etc. Then we feel bad because we aren't up to snuff. And if you remember that discussion, everyone is a big ole hot mess. No one has it together. During our immersion today, I learned something about identity. Our identity doesn't come from Church, it doesn't come from obeying the Law, it doesn't come from any of these things. We are created as a son or daughter by God the father. That's it. No works, no beliefs, no nothing. By birth we are chosen by God. That's pretty awesome. Our identity is through him. As a Dad, he wants…
