March 24 – You Have Nothing To Prove! God Loves You!
4:83 – You Have Nothing To Prove! God Loves You

Setting

Recently I’ve written about apologizing too much or trying to fit in too hard. Heck, I was even called out for saying I’m not artistic when I’m learning to paint. A friend said that goes back to trying to fit in. All my life, I’ve tried to prove that I belong, I’m good enough, smart enough, and deserve what I have.

The problem with this line of thought is it’s exhausting and not necessary. I need to give up trying to prove any of these things. Why? When you are trying to prove you are working to prove rather than the real reason. It may be subconscious but it takes it’s toll on you and your relationships.

The other problem is God loves you, has given you and identity in him, and there is nothing you can do to lose it or earn it. You belong to him, belong to his family, and deserve what he has given you. You are worthy through Christ!

Today’s Questions: How would you spend your energy if you knew you belonged and didn’t have to prove it? What area are you struggling with that you need to just acknowledge that God already did the work?

Scripture
  • Titus 3:5 – He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit
  • Ephesians 1:4-6 – For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Reflection

I don’t know about you, but I got a little tingly reading these passages. God chose you. Yes, YOU. You are loved and blameless in his sight. He loves you. There is nothing you can or need to do. You don’t have to prove anything. Through the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ we are made new, clean, renewed, and free.

I’m trying to take that new mindset forward. How can I change my actions from trying to prove to truly enjoying what God gives me? How can I share my heart for free, knowimg I have nothing to prove!

As we close today, no matter where you are in life, you don’t have to prove anything to God. He has your back and will be by yourside until the end of the age.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you thank you. We struggle to fit in or to prove we are where we should be. You’ve told us you know the plans you have for us and that you love. We have nothing to prove in you. We pray that you help us take this mindset forward through all the days of our lives. Amen.
