4:36 – What Are You Making Today?

#faithbites #faithjourney making

Setting

Last night as I was working on my computer, my wife asked what I was making tonight as she saw I was in my 3D design program. I didn’t wasn’t making anything in particular, just trying to learn how to do more 3d modeling. This morning when I woke up, I thought about this in the context of life. What am I making today? How am I contributing to those around me? Am I serving God on the day he has made?

Todays questions: What are you making today? How are you using your God-given gifts to help those around you and serve God?

Scripture
  • Psalm 118:24 – This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
  • 1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:
  • 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 – Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

Reflection

God has blessed us with a new day. We should rejoice and be glad in it. For me, the joy comes in knowing he has given me certain talents and I should use them to help others. As we see in both 1 Peter and 1 Corinthians, all of our gifts are different and God empowered us to use them. Romans 12:6-8 says that if your gift is prophesying then prophesy, if it’s serving serve, teaching teach. If you can print 3d objects, then print 3d objects. Ok that’s not in there, but it should be. No gift is created than another. God created and we make.

As we close today, look at what you can make to help others. That can be a physical make, an emotional make, or a spiritual make. Making new friends, making new commitments to God, making a cake for the neighbor. Any and all of these can serve God. We just need to go out and do it.

So, what are you going to make today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us so many gifts. We are blessed beyond words. Let us be your hands and make things for others. Help us to find our true gift and use that in making someone else’s dreams come true. Some times we keep our creations for ourselves. When we do, remind us to give freely to others. Let us be the friend that we want to have. Lord, we love you and pray all of this in your name, Amen.
