Uncertainty
Nov 15 – Today Is Uncertain. Tomorrow Is With God
3:320 – Today Is Uncertain. Tomorrow Is With God

#faithbites #faithjourney uncertain

Setting

Elections. Coronavirus. Jobs. Stocks. Food. Relationships. Worship. Lockdown. The outcome of all of these are uncertain. We walk around with uncertainty and it’s hard. It makes us physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually tired. It’s hard to live with with everything that is uncertain.

We have one thing that is certain: The love and forgiveness of Christ. God never changes (Hebrews 13:8). We can rest in his love knowing that why today may be uncertain, God knows where we are and where we are going. We just need to put it in his hands.

Scripture

Matthew 6:25 – 34 – 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Reflection

We have a choice in life. We can choose to think that we can control everything that happens to us or we can choose to follow God and know that he has a plan. When we choose that are in full control, we fail. We have uncertainty, we have doubt, and chaos. This is because we can’t control the universe and our own sin deceives us.

When we look to God’s word and know that he takes care of everything in the world, we can be more certain of what to come. Does that mean it will be easy? No. We will suffer and have trials and tribulations. But, and this is a big but, God will provide. We may not know how, or when, but we do know why. He promised it and he always answers keeps his word.

I’ve just got to let it go and trust in my faith. How about you?

Challenge

Are you facing uncertainty in your life? Remember, it’s not uncertain for God. He knows where the future is going. Trust in him, no matter what.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for always keeping your promises. We live in crazy, uncertain times. So many things are challenging our perceptions of what normal is. Lord, we love you and we need you. Help us to see that you have got this. That just like the birds and the wild beasts, you will provide for us. Help us to listen to your voice and be the provider for others through you.

Life isn’t easy Lord and you told us it wouldn’t be, but you are always there for us. Please guide us and protest us. In your name, Amen.
