Oct 26 – Are You Being Tested
3:300 – Are You Being Tested?

#faithbites #faithjourney tested

Setting

Our governor gave his daily coronavirus briefing and testing, testing, testing, was the message. This post isn’t about COVID-19 but about being tested in general.

Are you feeling tested by God? are you under pressure and not sure how you will do? I’m feeling pressure as I will be tested tonight for my peer dissertation and in two weeks for my final defense. It’s a test I don’t want, but need to advance.

Do not fear as God is with you. He will protect and help you. We just need to ask for his help and take it.

Scripture
  • James 1:2-4 – Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
  • James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Reflection

If you ask my eldest if she likes to be tested she will tell you no. James tell us to take joy in being tested as our faith produces steadfastness. I want to be strong and steadfast in Christ.

One of my favorite song is The Impression That I Get from the Mighty Might Bosstones, has this lyrics, “I’m not a coward I’ve just never been tested
I’d like to think that if I was I would pass”.

Testing is part of life. We can chose to look at being tested as a negative or that it’s a chance to let God shine. He will reward our steadfastness.

Are you ready to be tested?

Challenge

What does being tested look like to you? Are you ready to rely on God for his strength? Challenge yourself to look at being tested as a way to show your perseverance in faith.

Prayer

Father God, help us thrive in any challenge or test thrown at us. We know our faith is strong in you. Help us Lord. Take away our fear and let us thrive in you always. In your name, Amen.
