May 20 – It Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes
3:141 – If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes

#faihbites #faithjourney changes

In chemistry and physics, a closed system at rest will stay at rest until something changes. Change the temperature, increase the pressure, add something to the system, and you have a change. The same is true in our life. If we don’t make a change, nothing will change.

I found myself losing my cool with homeschooling today. Yes, it’s the last day of school. Yes, it’s been a long 8ish weeks. But I found myself losing my cool and my daughter reacting in a similar way. Let’s say, it wasn’t pretty.

As I lay here thinking about what to write for #faithbites, I realized the problem is as much me as anyone else. I need change me to change the system.

Luckily, I have a daughter and a God who forgives me. But, I need to change me or nothing changes.

Scripture
  • Proverbs 18:16 – An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
  • Ezekiel 36:26–And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
  • Philippians 1:6–And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Reflection

First, we see that we can make the change through God. We need to seek the wise. This may be a trusted friend, it may be a mental health provider, it could be member if the clergy. We did to admit we need to make a change to change the system.

Second, God will heal us. We all from time to time have a heart that is made of stone. It could be our protective nature to not get hurt, or it could be we were hurt enough and we have grown cold. God promises to heal our heart.

Last, it is never too late to change. God will finish the good work he started in you. It’s not going to be easy, but the reward if everlasting life in Christ, will be worth it.

In closing, make a change. Seek help! You won’t regret it.

Challenge

Do you need change? How will you start the process? I plan on reaching out to my counselor. How about you?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, give us peace. Help us to know that northing is normal with the world right now. We can change but we need our help. Point us in the right direction. Put people in our lives who can facilitate this change. We are weak and need your guidance. Change our heart of stone to flesh. Continue your work in us until the day we are with you. In your name, Amen.
