3:131 – Just A Little More

Before we get started, I wanted to wish all mothers and mother figures a very happy Mother’s Day. God has blessed us with you. I would not be were I am if it wasn’t for my mom, my mother, and all my mother figures. Thank you.

Something that Mom may have told you to is never give up. Today, I bashed my thumb in a drawer. It was painful and black. A friend told me that I could remove the pain by draining it myself. Not going into details but I never thought I’d be able to do it. Between the fear, the little bit of pain, and a first time, no way to do it. I stopped and almost gave up when I thought it wouldn’t work. Then, finally, I didn’t give up and boom, I got there. Still a bit painful but it just took a little more.

God has provided many doors for you, have you stopped pushing it because you think it’s jammed? Maybe you just need to push a little more.

Scripture

Phillipians 3:12-14 – Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Reflection

Just one verse today. In a nutshell, this explains why we need to keep pushing, why we need to keep trying, and why we need to deepen our faith.

We are all far from perfect. Being a servant of God doesn’t mean we are perfect. We don’t need to have made it our own to help others. The reason we can do this is because Jesus made us his first. Now, we get to make our faith our own. It will take time and effort. And no, we can’t do it in our own. We can only do it with the help of God.

Remember, to move forward we need to leave behind the old. It’s scary, painful, and it’s hard to go away from the familiar. But with Jesus, we can do it. We just need to have faith.

Are you ready to push just a little more.

Challenge

Just don’t stop. Keep pushing through.it will be hard and you may want to stop, but don’t. Just push a little more.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to not give up. We know you are with us. There is nothing that we can’t do without you. Stay with us as we make your love our own. As our faith is deepened and strengthened, we understand the gift that you have us. Thank you for everything. In your name, Amen.
