3:92 – When All Hope is NOT Lost

#faithbites #faithjourney lost

In our house we don’t watch a lot of broadcast TV, so we don’t see many commercials. Tonight, my eldest and I were watching one of our superhero shows on the CW and it was filled with commercials. Instead of the normal come by this, it was all about how everything may be closed but you can still order, or connect, or whatever.

I understand that intent to show that we are all together and can get through this. For me, it was depressing. It showed that this new normal is not just two weeks and done. It is our new normal. While we are still connecting, we are changing how we interact.

The depressing part for me is are we going to go back to the way we were? I mean, will physical touch come back? Will we just do everything online and not interact? This is what makes me lose a little bit of hope.

No matter how down I get, I know I have hope on Jesus.

Scripture
  • And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. – 1 Peter 5:10
  • being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philipians 1:6
  • Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.” – Joshua 10:25
Reflection

We think our suffering is unbearable. And at times, it is. Jesus tells us that after we have suffered a little, we will have rest. Two words came our of that: little and rest. Jesus tells us we will have hard times, but he says that it is little. When compared to how he suffered, our suffering is little. He did tell us that we will have rest.

The Bible is filled with hope. We are not to be discouraged but have hope in the Lord. It is hard at times to know that Jesus will provide light and lead us out of this.

Without belaboring this point anymore, our new reality is hard, but our God is stronger. There is nothing our God can’t do. We just need to have faith.

Challenge

Look for one shining moment in your day. No matter how small it is, it is God showing you hope. Lean into it.

Prayer

Lord, it’s a rough time for sure. We know you have this and know how this will end. Help us to be strong in our faith. When we doubt, give us a sign to remind us that no matter how dark it is, your light will conquer all. We love you and honor you. In your name, Amen.
