Do You Make Time To Play

3:79 – Would You Like To Play A Game?

#faithbites #faithjourney play

Last night, for the first time in decades, I played a role-playing game. We did it online through Roll20, and it was fantastic. We laughed, giggled, and just had a great time. It was lots of fun.

This reminded me that in the depression and fear that is COVID-19, we need to just play. Play refreshes us, recharges us, and shows us what we are really fighting and loving for.

When was the last time you played?

Scripture
  • And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets. – Zechariah 8:5
  • There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil.  – Ecclesiastes 2:24
Reflection

Play is essential yet we replace play with work. Look at school. In preschool you have more play and as we age, we remove play. Even though play has proven to be important to mental and physical health. Then as we get older, we have even more responsibilities and less play.

God wants us to rest and wants us to enjoy life. Play is an important part of it. Whatever you define play as, play. Take time to rest and realize what all your effort is for. Take time to enjoy the bounty that God has given.

Challenge

Play. That’s it. Find something you want to do. Just do it. Video games, role playing games, music, play-doh, whatever. Just do it. Even in the COVID-19 era, we can find virtual ways to play with each other. Reach out and play a game!

Prayer

Heavenly father, thank you for everything you have given us. You have work for us to do and we are doing it. Remind us that play is important. Help us to enjoy that time in faith, fellowship, and fun. Remove the obstacles in our mind and let us have fun. We know you want us to have fun and play. We appreciate everything you do for us and thank you so much. In your precious name, Amen.
