Mar 13 – Pray. Comfort. Serve.
3:73 – Pray. Comfort. Serve.

#faithbites #faithjourney comfort

It’s a scary time for most of us: schools are closing, businesses sending people home, stores are being cleaned out of supplies, extra curricular activities cancelled, markets swinging wildly, and confusing messages are all around.

People are pandemic shaming, others are terrified, some are taking it in stride, while some don’t know how to react.

As we talked about yesterday, we need to have faith, trust, and be prepared. While we are going through this we need to remember three things: pray, comfort, and serve.

Scripture
  • And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. – Luke 18:1
  • Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. – Ephesians 4:32
  • As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. – 1 Peter 4:10-11 (ESV)
Reflection

Pray. We pray for God’s grace, protection, calm, support, dedication, and peace. We are all nervous and worried. Many are trying new things that may not work right the first time. We need to be full of Grace towards each other. Just take the time to lay hands (or hover if you are having social distance) and pray for others. You will feel his presence.

Comfort. We need to be there for each other as Christ is for us. Listen to each other’s fears and nerves. Be an ear for them. Tell them that all all thing are possible through Christ who strengthens us.

Serve. God has given each and everyone one of you a gift. He knew what he was doing when he made you. Use that gift in whatever way you can. What you may think is nothing is something really important to someone who needs the service you can provide.

Pray. Comfort. Serve. Let’s be united today and use this as an example of how we can be everyday.

Challenge

Pick one: pray, comfort, or serve. Write down how you plan to do just one of these things. Share it and do it. You will radically change someone’s life.

Prayer

Lord God, you know our fears, needs, and worries. Please be with us and help us unity together. You have a plan for each and everyone of us. Help us to be a people of prayer, comforting and serving one another in your Name. We love you, Lord. Amen.
