For I Know the Plans I have For you
Dec 11 – I Will Listen To You
2:345 – I Will Listen To You

#faithbites #faithjourney Listen

I was joking earlier that this time of the year is so busy and would be so much easier if Christmas wasn’t here. Yes, I understand the oxymoron of that statement. Tonight at our Cantata rehearsal, our director, opened us up with a devotional from Jeremiah 29. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “. Many of us know this verse Jeremiah 29:1, God wants what is best for us and will help us prosper, but we often stop there.

We know that God wants what is best for us, but we don’t know where he is. Sometimes we have a hard time knowing if he is listening to us. If we follow to the next verse, we get our answer. “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. (Jeremiah 29:12-14).

God wants us to seek him. God will listen to us. We will find him and he will bring us back from captivity. Captivity comes in all forms and styles, but he will free us from all that. Through his Son, we are saved.

Scripture
  • See above – Jeremiah 29:11-14
  • And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. – 1 John 5:14
  • And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” – Matthew 21:22
Reflection

Our God loves us. He is listening to those who pray and have faith. We don’t need to listen to the world. When the world says “Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen To Good People”. That’s not God. That’s Satan. God wants us to prosper and he has plans for us.

Our rewards in him may not be on this earth but the next. When we turn it over to him and burn the ships, he will set us free.

Just like 2000 years ago when they saw a Star that made no sense, we have a God who loves us and where our faith makes no sense. But God tells us in his word that it all makes sense.

Challenge

Pray tonight. Talk to God. Tell him what you want, what you need, and what you are thankful for. He is listening to you and wants you to prosper.

Prayer

God, thank you. Thank you for reminding us that you only want good for us. You are listening to us and we can find you when we seek with all our hearts. You love us and will help us prosper in life. We thank you, love you, and honor you with our praise. In your name, Amen.
