Never stop marching
Dec 9 – Never Give Up: Keep Marching
2:343 – Never Give Up: Keep Marching

#faithbites #faithjourney marching

This last week on the #RoadToEdD was bumpy. I set aside an afternoon to write, and the program I use was down. Then on Thursday, I spent 90 minutes responding to peer feedback and rewriting my dissertation. Something happened with the program and most of it was lost. This is a major setback. I am now a week off on my plan and it may set me back a bit. I am frustrated and beat up a bit. But I will eventually get it done. I will finish this program and earn my EdD.

In our faith journey, we have major bumps in the road. We lose some faith, we make mistake, and feel separated from God. The thing is, no matter how many mistakes we make, we are forgiven. No matter how far we feel we have fallen from Christ, he is just a prayer and forgiveness away.

Scripture
  • Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. – Revelation 2:10
  • Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. – James 1:12
  • Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
Reflection

Many of us have heard this sentiment, “Back in my day, I used to walk to school, barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways”. Some days it feels like that. God’s word helps us understand that he will always help us during our trials and tribulations. Trial is part of our life on earth. We need to recognize that trial isn’t bad. It helps us grow and polish our God-given talents. We know that the thief (Satan) comes to kill and destroy (John 10:10). That destroying comes in many different forms: relationships, work struggles, technology failing, health, and many more. Just know that Jesus loves you. He will help you overcome any tribulation. All we need to do is “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul”(Luke 10:27).

Challenge

You will fall. You will fail. It’s ok. Jesus will always love you. Your challenge is to just keep marching. No matter how hard it is, you will never stop walking, never start trying to follow in Christ’s footsteps.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us when we make mistakes. Help us to keep marching in your direction. We love you and want to follow in your perfect footsteps. We know we won’t be perfect, but with your strength and love, we will be children you can be proud of. In your name, Amen.
