Oct 16 – When Hope Seems Lost

2:289 – When Hope Seems Lost

#faithbites #faithjourney #Adulting hope

Today was a pretty craptastic day. Lots going on and not very good outcomes. It’s one of those days you want to say, blank it all, and give up Adulting. So I’ll keep it short today.

When we view our worth through the eyes of others, we are bound to be disappointed. It’s hard to separate the two as we live in this world and the next. We want to be liked, loved, and appreciated. When others let us down or hurt us, it’s hard to come back and makes us feel lost and without hope.

Its days like this when we quote, George Michael, “You gotta have faith”.

Scripture

  • I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:14
  • The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17

Reflection

God made us in his image. He gave his only son for us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. In layman’s terms, “God doesnt junk.” He gives us hope and leads the lost out of the wilderness.

People may not realize that, but he does. No matter how crappy your day is, how undervalued you feel, how people can cut to the core of your character, God is with you and loves you.

This is something I need tonight and we all need to remember. God loves you fully, unconditionally, and eternally.

Challenge

Allow yourself to see your value in Christ. No reservations, no concerns, just his unadulterated love.

Prayer

Lord, people can be mean, heartless, and cruel. You are none of these things. Help us to be strong in you. Remind us our identity is from you and you alone. Allow us to take feedback and know the difference between cruelty and constructive criticism. You criticize us all the time as you want us to enjoy our inheritance and be more like you. But your feedback is always on love. Be with us and remind us to never forget that you don’t make junk. Amen
