2:285 – A Person’s Purpose

#faithbites #faithjourney Purpose

Tonight was family movie night and we watched A Dog’s Purpose. It traces the multiple incarnations of a dog finding his purpose. The movies central question is “What is purpose?” Is it fun, love, work, compassion, solitude. This dog struggles with this thought his many lives.

The question, we ask, is what is our purpose?

Scripture

  • The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. – Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
  • Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
  • So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Reflection

Spread the Gospel. Keep God’s commandments. Fear God. Give all Glory to God. That’s our purpose right there. It isn’t to have the most toys, most money, or most accomplishments, or largest families. It’s not any of these things. It’s to love one another, love God, and make disciples of all nations.

We humans, make things so hard in ourselves. We struggle and fight for accomplish to feel better or look better, but in reality, if we follow God’s plan, all that will happen.

I dont know what God’s plan is, but I do know my first step is understanding my purpose. It’s a purpose I hope to share with others and my family. When we are on the same page, we can grow in Him.

Challenge

Have you accepted your purpose? Read the scriptures again, understand them, and begin to internalize that our purpose is found through Jesus.

Prayer

Lord, we struggle and make things so hard. You give us simple instruction, tell us how to live and we botch it. We give praise and thanks for you forgiving us when we mess up. Be with us and help us to understand our purpose and love life to the fullest following that purpose. We give you all power, honor, and glory. Amem.
