2:263 – Party: I Want To Rock And Roll All Night And …

#faithbites #faithjourney #RedLetterChallenge Party

If you are like me, you are now singing the Kiss Song! It’s upbeat and most of us know it. What’s funny to me, is I always say work hard and play hard. Part of that is having fun. Life is a highway, I want to ride it. And now you are probably singing that song too.

Here’s the thing, Jesus wants us to celebrate, to party, and to have fun. Imagine if we approached our faith with celebration for what God has given us. There are rules we need to follow of course, but these rules are to help us, not hinder us.

Think about Adam and Eve. God said you can have everything you want, except this one tree. It was a perfect life of plenty until we broke the one rule. Christ wants us to celebrate His Glory and what we have.

Celebrate. Give thanks. Be amazed by the bounty that God has and will provide. Let’s have fun.

Scripture
  • Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. – Luke 15:23
  • And I commend joy, for man has no good thing under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun. – Ecclesiastes 8:15
Reflection

Let’s feast and be merry. Imagine if we did what Jesus commands. If we loved each other, loved God, and were joyful. He wants us to make a joyful noise Psalm 100:1 (KJV). We had our fall festival at school. it was clean celebrating and enjoy food, faith, fellowship, and the Lord.

Sure we have rules but we can have fun. Jesus just wants us to have the right type of fun. Eat, drink, praise, adventure, learn, and share life with each other. These are ways to have fun.

Imagine if we showcased the fun and bounty of life we had to others rather than condemning them with their sins before they walk through the door. How wonderful would that be? This doesn’t mean that we don’t correct ourselves and others, but that is part of the relationship. It’s not the beginning and the end.

Challenge

Celebrate. Have a few people over for a meal. Play a board game. Praise God. So many ways to just have fun. Jesus earned that for you.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for reminding us to have fun. Empower and help us to bring fun and celebration into our lives on a regular basis. You give us laws to live by AND a bounty of fun, adventure, and love. Help us stay in balance, and celebrate everything you give to us. In your awesome name, Amen.
