September 16 – The Book Is Missing. Should I stop?
2:260 – The Book Is Missing. Should I stop?

#faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge missing

Like clockwork, tonight I sat down to read Day 8 of the Red Letter Challenge. But when I went for the book, it was gone. I can’t find it in our bedroom, office, living room, bathroom (you never know), and it’s just gone. At first, I thought I could skip a day because, what’s it matter. Then I realized that we don’t need that book to be part of the Red Letter Challenge. We have THE book that will always give us Jesus’s words.

Skipping one day can lead to a habit, just as making sure you find a way to read his words makes a habit.

Scripture
  • But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33
  • But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. – Deuteronomy 4:29
Reflection

Every day we make choices. Choices that are good for us, bad for us, and ones that either lead us toward or away from God. If we seek God we will get everything he promises. When we seek the Lord, we do so with all our hearts, minds, and souls. It’s that easy…or easier said than done.

It’s easy to let a missing book stop progress. Maybe you are under the weather, tired, booked up, or whatever. When we make time for Jesus, we are rewarded. We are refueled with his spirit, with his love, and his forgiveness. This is what powers us to move through our day, spreading his love.

Challenge

Is your book missing? Maybe you’ve lost directions? Don’t make excuses. Go in prayer. Find a bible online. Have study with friends. There are ways to still be with God even if it wasn’t how you planned. Make a new plan and seek Jesus.

Prayer

Dear God, it’s so easy to step away from you. We find excuses, including missing books, to not be part of a challenge or a pattern. Help us to always find ways to come back to you. Remind us how you fuel us for our spiritual battles and our spiritual life. Let us always seek you. And by the way, if you could find it to help me find my book, that would be great. If not, I pray that my prayers are pleasing to you. In your name, Amen.
