September 9 – The Missing Puppy
2:252 – The Missing Puppy

#faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge Puppy

Tomorrow starts the official #RedLetterChallenge for our church. 40 Days of reading Jesus’s words and seeking a deeper understanding of him.

Tonight, my eldest lost her favorite stuffed animal, Crazy Puppy. We have torn up the house looking for him. I spent close to 30 minutes looking. I finally calmed her down, told her we would find him, and she has her stuffed Porg to keep her company. I hope he’s at school, but who knows.

We are often like my eldest. Trying to find what we love. Looking everywhere for it and most times coming up empty. The reason is, we are looking in the wrong places.

His love is in His words. We just need to look in the right place.

Scripture

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.John 15:9-17

Reflection

This is Jesus’s love in a nutshell. He chose us. We didn’t have to do anything to deserve this love. If we abide in his commandments, we will abide in his love.

That’s it. Love him, love people. Then we have his love. The greatest of all loves.

When we feel alone, we are usually straying from Him. We are putting our faith in other things. We are searching in all the wrong places.

My eldest loves her crazy puppy. She will find him as she won’t give up until she looks in the right place. We need to follow her example and look for Jesus in the right place. His Words.

Challenge

Start a habit today. Schedule time for Him. Don’t look elsewhere. Turn to His Red Words

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for all the wonders you give us. Be with us as we search for love. Direct us to the right place to find it and how to share it with all of your people. Guide us on this next 40 day challenge as we get deeper into your word, Amen.
