August 27 – Shouting Into The Void
2:239 – Shouting Into The Void

#faithbites #faithjourney Void

The email that is never answered. The social media post with no reactions. Text messages left without a reply. Phone calls unanswered. This is shouting into the void

We have all had the experience of trying to communicate with someone without a response. It can sting, burn, and make you feel alone. Sometimes a simple “I Got It” or “Thank You” would make it all better. But the void doesn’t speak back.

Prayer can feel like this. You pray, beg, scream, and shout for an answer, and you don’t hear anything. God is not the void. He is listening and will respond.

Scripture
  • This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.1 John 5:14
  • Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive2 Chronicles 6:21
  • You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.Job 22:7
  • Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.Isaiah 65:24
Reflection

God hears us. He knows what we want before we ask. I repeat GOD HEARS YOU. If we aren’t getting what we want it’s one of two things. Either we are asking for the wrong things (James 4:3) or we are not listening.

God has a plan for us. He knows what is best for us. He may be delivering what you want later or in a different form. Be open to that.

Not getting replies to emails, texts, chats, and messages can be maddening. You feel alone. God is answering you, you need to be open to his reply.

Charge

We can’t change how or when God answers. All we can do is practice listening to him. Look at what he has put in your life and your opportunities. He may already be answering. Also when you see people shouting into the void, wherever it is, be there to reply and help them.

Prayer

Lord, some people say they are surrounded by people but utterly alone. Their voice is not heard and they are shouting into the void. We know you are there and there is no void you can’t cross and no prayer you won’t hear and answer in your way. Help us to know you are there even when our human mind makes us think we are alone. Grace us with your presence always. In your name, Amen.
