July 21 – Bee Stings Hurt or Everything Happens For A Reason
2:202 – Bee Stings Hurt or Everything Happens for a Reason

#faithbites #faithjourney bee

(This faithbite idea by my wife, Amanda)

On Friday, I was pulling weeds and got stung. It hurt, but it was ok. It may be a bee or a wasp or a hornet, whatever it hurt. Flashforward to today. I took the garbage can back to the side of the house and felt stinging everywhere.

When it was over, I had three stings on a finger, one on my right arm, three on my left arm/elbow and one on my head. The kids got me some ice but I was on pain.

My wife said let’s look at the blessings: You aren’t allergic, Our neighbor had hornet/wasp killer, the kids didn’t get stung (our kids and the neighbor kids play by there all the time), and the nest is gone. She said God was using you to protect His children.

I’m glad all of that is true and no one else hurts. It doesn’t take the sting away but maybe this is one way God uses us.

He puts us in situations where we aren’t sure how we got there or why, but he has a plan.

Scripture
  • For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:Ecclesiastes 3:1
  • As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today – Genesis 50:20
  • When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
    God has made the one
    as well as the other.
    Therefore, no one can discover
    anything about their future.Ecclesiastes 7:14
Reflection

We will have good days and bad. Remember that God makes the wrist days and the best days. Some days we will get stung and it will hurt but it saves others from the pain. God never means us evil but will use every situation to help others and advance his plan. And no matter what happens, he is there to bring you ice and help make a baking soda paste to take the sting away.

I can be ticked at those bees or I can see the good side of it. And in many cases, I see both.

Let’s remember that days will be good and bad, but in all days, God has a plan and is with us always.

Charge

Have you been stung lately? Think about that sting. Is there a lesson there? Maybe God was using you to help others. Don’t forget that God is there no matter how many stings you have.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for being ever present in our lives. We know that there will be great days and bad days. Some days we will be stung a hundred times and other days, it will be nice and sunny. Remind us that these stings have a purpose. Let us see this purpose and know others are experiencing the same thing. We are all here to serve you and every encounter we have has meaning. We ask for your love, healing, and understanding. In your name, Amen.
