May 25 – Take A Moment To Enjoy
2:145 – Take A Moment To Enjoy

#faithbites #faithjourney enjoy

I’m sitting on a park bench, listening to kids playing at the park. There is a moderate breeze, it’s partly cloudy, and warm. The kids are enjoying being outside and I’m enjoying being in God’s creation.

Not everyday is like this, but imagine if it was. Imagine if we focused on the beauty of the world instead of the evils.

I’d like to live in that world.

Scripture
  • Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.John 1:3
  • But ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
    the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;
    or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you;
    and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
    Who among all these does not know
    that the hand of the Lord has done this?
    In his hand is the life of every living thing
    and the breath of all mankind.
    Job 12:7-10 (ESV)
Reflection

We spend so much of our time worrying about everything: bills, health, finances, politics, relationships, work, everything. While we do need to spend time on those activities, we can’t forget why we live. We live to serve God, enjoy his wonderful creation, and help our brothers and sisters.

While sitting here, I helped a little boy who got stuck on the playground equipment, played with my youngest, and just listened to the birds and wind.

This is all part of God’s gift to us.

Charge

Take a few minutes wherever you are, to put down the technology, out away your worries, and be present in the moment.

You will be rewarded with rest and perspective.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you this weather and your creation. Thank you for allowing us to rest in your world. Remind us that we need to enjoy what you have provided. You treasure hard work, but you give us rest and reward. Let us always take time to enjoy it. In your name, Amen.
