October 2 – I am so Thirsty
275 – I Am So Thirsty

#faithbites #faithjourney thirsty

I woke up this morning very thirsty. I figured I’d get a drink when I was showered, changed, and ready for work. Throughout my shower, even though I was covered in water, I was thirsty.  After getting dressed, the first thing I did was drink a big glass of water. As the water was filling the glass, I thought how easy it was to get the water. All I had to do was lift the handle and there was water. I then thought about how many places in the world didn’t have that luxury of lifting the handle when they were thirsty.

This little event reminded me of how many things are just a handle lift away. From telling someone how you feel, to completing that next project, to connecting with others, to rediscovering your faith. We are all thirsty for something, and while we think there is no water in sight, it is just a handle lift away.

Scripture
  • But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” – John 4:14
  • The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. – Revelation 22:17
  • On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. – John 7:37
Reflection

As I continue to write this #faithbite, the thirst is coming back. I will go back upstairs and drink another glass of water. Unlike that cup of water, the water that the Lord gives us is eternal and we will never thirst again. Just like lifting the handle to get a glass, accepting Jesus is that easy. You don’t have to go through a ceremony, no trials or tribulations, no quests. Just believe and you will be born of the water and the spirit. He is there to always quench your thirst. As in Revelations, there is no price, just drink.

I can’t imagine never having thirst again. Never need another glass of water. In my faith, though I am never thirsty for salvation, I’m thirsty to do more and learn more about Jesus. I want to live my life like his and share His word.

The funny thing, though this is about faith, that action of lifting the handle for water, is what you can do with any of those obstacles in your life. They are there, it’s our fear and self-doubt that stop us. With faith, all things are possible.

Charge

Are you stuck? Are you thirsty? The Lord is by your side. He will help you to never be thirsty again. He will give you strength. Take a moment to look at those things that are closer than you think. Pray on it. Then lift the handle and drink.

Lord, give me the strength to never be thirsty. Help me to see that everything is possible and within my reach with you.
