Happiness Can Be Yours

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t want to be happy. Many search for that happiness through strife, depression, work, and everyday life. So many things can take away from happiness: concentration on the negative, news stories, financial problems, stress, social media, and more. We are constantly bombarded by stressors and evil that try to take our happiness away.

I try to be a happy person. Many have seen my Sun and Moon Tatoo in a Yin-Yag dynamic. The sun is much larger than the moon as that represents my outgoing, happy, life loving side. The moon represents my introverted, reflective, cautious side. They live together, many times in harmony, but like all of us, one tends to take over.

The summer seems to be such a busy time. I am swamped at work, let along my schooling, the kids, activities, and everything else that needs to get done. Today, while at work, I found myself getting frustrated with people who needed help. They are having issues and I can help them but if they would have asked for it when I asked if they needed it or turned in work when it was called for it would be less stressful for me. This isn’t their fault totally. I let my happiness be zapped by negative forces. I allowed them to seme in and color my day based on what they needed when it wasn’t even a bad thing. Part of it harks back to yesterday’s “Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys”  faithbites, the other part is how I react to them.

We can’t be happy by ourselves as  we have sin, strife, and temptation. The Lord provides happiness through his Words, his Actions, and His deeds.

Scripture

Blessed is the people of whom this is true;
    blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.” – Psalm 114:15

“Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
    Let the light of your face shine on us.
Fill my heart with joy
    when their grain and new wine abound.” – Psalm 4:6-7

” I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.” – Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Reflection and Charge

We are chosen to be people of the Lord, blessed by him and through him. He gives us prosperity and light. We have all the riches in this world and the next coming to us through Christ. All that being said, sometimes it is hard. It is hard to look past the doom and gloom of this world. To look past the sleepless nights, the pain and suffering, and past the ignorance. It is hard for us, but not hard for Jesus. We need to pray on those emotions, share those with him, and ask for peace, joy, and happiness. This is not easy and I am far from it. I hope through patience, practice, and the friends the Lord has given me, that I will get better at finding and keeping my happiness through him.

Are you truly happy? Do you look to the Lord as your source of happiness and joy? Do you cast your fears, doubts, and tribulations on his?

I will look to the Lord for my happiness and cast my fears, doubts, and tribulations on him with the help of God.
