It's The Great Pumpkin Katie Joe

Hi Everybody,

First of all..BOO! It’s that time of the year again. When a chill enters the air (well there is supposed to be a chill in the air but it’s 78 degrees. We don’t tell Al Gore), the leaves begin to change, and all sorts of scary things come across the planet. Well if you haven’t guessed, I’m talking about fall and Halloween. Last ngiht the extended family went to Scoville Zoo in Decatur for their annual Boo at the Zoo. Everyone dresses up in Halloween costumes, they have little stations that give out candy, and a scary train ride. We took Katie and Gilly and it was so much fun. Check out the pictures from the right here. The best station, as always is the last one, is one that hands out homemade caramel apples. Yum Yum….

So to all you little demons out there. Have a Happy Halloween.

Happy Day all,

So last night was another episode of one of my favorite shows, heroes. Why do I love this show? What isn’t there to love. Super Powers, mystery, interconnectiveness. It’s all the mystery and suspense of LOST mixed with super powers. The other thing I love about it is it’s a huge cast with amazing different abilities. It seems as if every week or two a new person is introduced into the puzzle with a new ability. The cool thing is it may be a week or two before they explain the power the person has, and the power may change over time. It’s a great show to get your mind working overtime. So this show always gets me thinking about superpowers. When I was little, I wanted the power of flight like superman. How cool would it be to fly around wherever you wanted. It wasn’t until I was at work and I had this conversation and someone said that flight for a superpower if you were a hero would be useless. Superman is cool because he has super strength, heat vision, freeze breathe, etc. If you just had flight, you could get there and then what? Ha Ha. I will catch this woman falling off a building, but wait I don’t have any enhanced strength so gravity would pull is both down……

So now I know what power I want. The power of save and restore. How could would that be. It is like in a video game where you save your progress, continue on, learn more or get killed, then restore back to a point in the past. You have all the knowledge of the other attempts but no lasting impact. So you could rob a bank if you want just to satisify you curiosity. As a woman out, get dumped, change your approach and go again. You could see some lottery numbers. Not truly time travel just living and being able to restore to an earlier point.

Well enough about what I would have as a power, how about you.

Up, Up, and Away…..

As most of you know, I have been under the weather, sick, whatever you want to call it since May. All I have to say is this stinks. So I’m not complaining about the pain or the troubles, I’m just upset about our medical system. Sometimes I think that the medical field is a bunch of money grubbing quacks. I know they’re not, they are doing their job and trying to avoide malpractice suites. What a great society when inventiveness is crippled because of lawsuite.  What I wouldn’t do for a medical tricorder and a hypospray. The doc would take five seconds, scan me, shoot me up, and I’m back to duty. Heck, they even replaced Worf’s whole spinal cord and he was on the bridge latter in the episode.  How many episodes of Star Trek did a a quick hypospray injection save the crew from doom and gloom? Probably too many to count.

So I guess now I go from wishing there was a tricorder to being a patient on an unfunny episode of house. So sometime in the next couple of weeks or so, I get to venture to the University of Illinois - Chicago to see a specialist. (The only good thing about this trip is it makes my rounds of all the U of I campuses complete. That and $3.18 gets me a value meal at McDonalds).

So enough venting. Maybe at least I will get put in a journal or something. Hey if House can kill people, smack them around, fire his team, play games, and still become a knight of the royal order; then maybe there is hope for me yet.

Hi Everyone,

Many of you have said “Sol, you never update your website.” So, I have heard your calls and created a brand new website. No forums, no tricky business, just blogs and photos. This is a place for anyone to rant and rave on just about any subject they want to. From politics, to weather, to health, to the server at Denny’s forgetting to fill you drink even though you have already finished two glasses and are still very thirsty. I hope that you will all take an opportunity to look, post, and just reflect. And yes, I will go off on tangents on just about anything and everything.

So here’s to making the new website a little more used than before.
